In his G-20 speech on June 28, 2019 Vladimir Putin declared that the world's liberal political order had "outlived its purpose." Putin openly revealed himself as the force against democracy. This is now possible for him to do because Trump agrees with him and Republicans do not dare to challenge Trump. The veil and gloves are off. The threat to 2020 US election is real. Putin will unleash his trolls and bots. He will succeed with people who have authoritarian and white nationalist tendencies. Jesus said in John 14:6 : "I am the way and the truth and the life". In 2016 Trump said repeatedly : "I alone can fix it". Are there direct parallels between these statements? Is Trump making himself into a modern day messiah? Is he inspiring fervent devotion in his base? I think the answer is yes. Robert S. Mueller III, the Special Counsel, dodged questions as he gave his farewell statement on May 29, 2019. He believes his report can speak for itself. He is known as the "by the book" guy who avoids politics. But in the US now we are at an intersection of justice and politics. Congress has not yet moved toward impeachment, even as Mueller mentioned other constitutional remedies. Why does Mueller not want to voluntarily testify before Congress? One would think that he would want to see justice done. Why would he sit by and let Trump get away with lies and obstruction?
