January 6, 2021: Trump's Assault on Congress
The events of January 6, 2021 happened because of the interplay of Trump and his base. The character of Trump's most ardent supporters was such that he was able to spur them to violent action. Trump cultivated his most extreme followers to use as his weapon. They cooperated beautifully and even committed murder for him. Trump, of course, did not slam the policeman who died. Trump knows how to evade the law and have others do his dirty work. Just ask Michael Cohen. Violent movements are carried out by those in society who are most impassioned and have the least inhibition about using violence. We are not all created equal when it comes to propensity for violence. Some have much shorter fuses. Sociopaths and psychopaths don't have much regret either.
