  Many people are experiencing schadenfreude over Trump's Covid infection. Trump toyed with the virus and lost. He also endangered many other people with his reckless behavior. The question is: how many people will have to die before his supporters abandon him? After arriving at Walter Reed on Oct. 2 Trump tweeted: "Going well, I think! Thank you all. LOVE!!!" The faithful responded. A group of supporters has kept vigil outside the hospital festooned with Trump signs and flags. On Oct. 4 Trump rewarded them with a drive-by caravan. However, he put Secret Service agents at risk with this stunt. Trump should be quarantined and anyone close to him should be wearing a full PPE! Trump's selfish needs again came first.   Donald Trump is a "stable genius" of sorts. He is a genius at lying and disinformation. Until he is caught on tape, of course. His facility with lying is impressive. He is all about "winning" and "winning" is about getting what he wants, be it power, admiration, money, or indulging himself with sex or food. If how he goes about "winning" is distasteful to the public he covers it up with lies. This is how he wants to treat the Coronavirus epidemic. It is inconvenient to his re-election so he lies about it and people die. This is shocking in a man who is supposed to run the country and care  about public good. It becomes so much clearer that Trump just cares about Trump. We are disappointed daily by Donald J. Trump. There is no evidence of humanity or reason. We are left with the stark realization that Trump is just an animal in human form. There is no great strategy to his behavior, as some strive to find. He is living for what feels good in the moment. He lashes out when he is questioned and challenged. He says what makes him look good in the moment. Truth does not matter. Trump's appeal is to people's baser instincts: selfishness, racism, greed. We should remember that he ran for presidency as a vanity project. He let it all hang out, which some people thought was genuine and just what the country needed. But, he never ran to help other people. It was all about attention getting and parading in front of cameras. Now we are living with the appalling realization that he will let tens of thousands die because he sees no benefit to himself in helping them. He gets perverse pleasure out of the pain people who dislike him are suffering. Covid-19...

Yes, we are living in strange times. Perhaps the strangest of all are the leaders we "elected". Is it all a cruel joke? And perpetrated by whom or for whom? These are perplexing questions. The tragedy is that many more lives will be lost because of these misguided leaders. Trump is attempting to weaponize the Coronavirus pandemic to deflect from his ineptness. He is throwing the blame on Democratic governors, WHO, Obama administration, scientists, health care workers stealing supplies, the Chinese, and whoever else he can find. He is extracting praise for his performance from the desperate governors. He is seeing to it that shortages are not in red states and that his base is not too disturbed by mitigation measures. Trump's news conferences are hardly more than self-promotions. They must be music to the ears of those who love what he stands for.
