Trump politically weaponizes Coronavirus

Yes, we are living in strange times. Perhaps the strangest of all are the leaders we "elected". Is it all a cruel joke? And perpetrated by whom or for whom? These are perplexing questions. The tragedy is that many more lives will be lost because of these misguided leaders.

Trump is attempting to weaponize the Coronavirus pandemic to deflect from his ineptness. He is throwing the blame on Democratic governors, WHO, Obama administration, scientists, health care workers stealing supplies, the Chinese, and whoever else he can find. He is extracting praise for his performance from the desperate governors. He is seeing to it that shortages are not in red states and that his base is not too disturbed by mitigation measures. Trump's news conferences are hardly more than self-promotions. They must be music to the ears of those who love what he stands for.

In this age of Trump America is being confronted with a question of its identity. More than just stirring up racial animus, Trump is eroding the Constitutional foundation of this country. He is pushing the country into a dictatorship and the Republicans are letting him do it. And the religious Right is hoping to make America into their theocracy.

Racism and greed are tightly woven into the history of the US. If there was no greed there would have been no slavery. Greed is what fueled the rise of the US. Modern day Republicans understand this well. The ideas of the Enlightenment written into the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence are a distant second as motivations. They conflict with the practice of greed. Trump's appeal is to racism and greed. And frankly, the Constitution stands in his way.

What is especially dangerous is that we are living in an age where disinformation flows freely. "Alternative facts" abound and people accept what appeals to their prejudices. FOX News has been behind Trump every step of the way and we can safely assume that so have the Russian trolls.

Trump has denied responsibility for the state of the epidemic. David Frum, who is far from a Progressive, wrote in the Atlantic: "Yet responsibility falls upon Trump, whether he takes it or not. No matter how much he deflects and insults and snivels and whines, this American catastrophe is on his hands and on his head." It is only fitting that Trump should wear the Coronavirus on his head.

Since this is an Astrology blog I must look at Trump's natal chart in relation to current planetary positions.

The most disturbing transits between Trump and the current world chart are the following:

World Chiron (Healer) opposition Trump Eris (Discord, Chaos)

World Eris square Trump Venus-Saturn (Trump's ego fragility)

World Jupiter-Pluto (magnified destructive power) opposition Trump Venus-Saturn

These influences could be summarized as follows: Chiron, which is associated with healing, is opposed by Trump's Eris. This likely means that Trump is making chaos of what should have been an opportunity to heal. The disruptive power of world Eris is squaring Trump's fragile ego, so that his fragility is used to further increase chaos in the world. The magnified destructive power of the world indicated by the Jupiter conjunction Pluto is hitting Trump's ego fragility. He is too fragile and weak to act against the destructive power that has come upon us.
