Vladimir Putin: Be Afraid

Vladimir Putin is a formidable figure on the world stage. What can Astrology tell us about him? How does this match his actions? Putin's natal chart is shown below:


The Pluto conjunct MC in Putin's chart is terrifying. The power of Pluto is being unleashed on the world stage. Pluto's negative side is ruthless power, elimination and destruction. Nuclear power is considered Plutonian because of its immense destructive power. Putin has used radioactive polonium to destroy his enemy Alexander Litvinenko in the UK. Putin also struck with a nerve agent against ex-spy Sergei Skripal. Presently Russia is developing even more terrifying weapons of mass destruction.

Pluto in Putin's chart is in sextile aspect to the stellium of Sun, Saturn, Neptune, and Mercury in Libra. Putin is a very astute observer of human nature and a skilled diplomat when he needs to be, all Libra qualities. These qualities are magnified by the quincunx to Jupiter. The stellium is square Uranus which means Putin can do the unexpected, as when he annexed Crimea. Pluto's power is also magnified by the square ( 3 degrees) to Jupiter.

The dwarf planet Eris is in sesquiquadrate aspect to Pluto ( 0 degrees). This signifies the possibility of sudden and dangerous release of Pluto energy. Eris is also in a tight square (1 degree) to Chiron in Capricorn which may signify a strong drive to succeed in the world. The placement of Chiron in Capricorn could also mean that Putin feels a lack in this area, such as feeling not respected enough, which could harden this drive.

Putin's Pluto is in opposition  to the North Node which signifies involvement with a group. Putin's power, Pluto, is to be used for some group purpose, in his case Russia. The fact that Pluto is in opposition to the North Node on IC may mean that Putin is not acting in the best interest of Russia. He stole a lot of wealth from the Russian people. His aggressive measures alienated most of the world. People fear Russia and avoid dealing with Russia. But for Putin, with his dark view of human nature, perhaps there is no other way to be in the world. If people do not fear you, they will attack and destroy you. It is a primitive, totally mistrustful view of humanity. Putin's Moon in sesquiquadrate aspect to Saturn (0 degrees) supports these negative feelings. His Scorpio Ascendant quincunx his Moon reinforces these feelings of deep distrust.


In 2001 George W. Bush famously said of Putin: "I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy. We had a very good dialogue. I was able to get a sense of his soul; a man deeply committed to his country and the best interests of his country."

But in 2018 George W. Bush corrected himself: "When I looked into his eyes and saw his soul, Russia was broke .... the price of oil goes up and Putin changed .... Look, he's a very smart tactician. The problem is, his whole attitude on most issues is 'I'm going to win and U.S. is going to lose'."

RBG and Antonin Scalia: An Unlikely Friendship

The two, now deceased, justices of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia had an unusual, yet true friendship.
