Donald J. Trump:Just Animal

Image
We are disappointed daily by Donald J. Trump. There is no evidence of humanity or reason. We are left with the stark realization that Trump is just an animal in human form. There is no great strategy to his behavior, as some strive to find. He is living for what feels good in the moment. He lashes out when he is questioned and challenged. He says what makes him look good in the moment. Truth does not matter. Trump's appeal is to people's baser instincts: selfishness, racism, greed. We should remember that he ran for presidency as a vanity project. He let it all hang out, which some people thought was genuine and just what the country needed. But, he never ran to help other people. It was all about attention getting and parading in front of cameras. Now we are living with the appalling realization that he will let tens of thousands die because he sees no benefit to himself in helping them. He gets perverse pleasure out of the pain people who dislike him are suffering. Covid-19...

Trump politically weaponizes Coronavirus

Image
Yes, we are living in strange times. Perhaps the strangest of all are the leaders we "elected". Is it all a cruel joke? And perpetrated by whom or for whom? These are perplexing questions. The tragedy is that many more lives will be lost because of these misguided leaders. Trump is attempting to weaponize the Coronavirus pandemic to deflect from his ineptness. He is throwing the blame on Democratic governors, WHO, Obama administration, scientists, health care workers stealing supplies, the Chinese, and whoever else he can find. He is extracting praise for his performance from the desperate governors. He is seeing to it that shortages are not in red states and that his base is not too disturbed by mitigation measures. Trump's news conferences are hardly more than self-promotions. They must be music to the ears of those who love what he stands for. In this age of Trump America is being confronted with a question of its identity. More than just stirring ...

Bernie-Trump Match-Up

Image
No one can deny that Bernie Sanders is the most strident and fiery of the Democratic candidates in 2020. It should not be surprising then that Bernie is very strong in Fire energy. His Moon conjunction Mars in Aries is a sign of a warrior. We can easily picture the power of the ram (Aries) in battle, as we watch Bernie. His head lurches forward, ready to lock horns with his adversaries. Bernie's Noon Natal Chart is shown below. Bernie can match, or perhaps surpass, the Fire power of Donald Trump. With his Mars in conjunction to the Ascendant in Leo, and Moon in Sagittarius, the other Fire signs, Trump is well-armed for battle. Trump's Natal Chart is shown below. If the election was just about passion, Bernie and Trump would be evenly matched. But when it comes to policies and ideas, the idealism of Bernie is pitted against the selfish corruption of Trump. Bernie abides in the pure and ideal world of Virgo (Sun, Neptune, North Node in Virgo), while Trump appeals to t...

The Bolton Factor

Image
As the Impeachment Trial of Donald J. Trump proceeds, it appears that the testimony of John Bolton may have a profound effect. The very foundations of American democracy are being undermined by Donald Trump, as he seeks to gain absolute power. John Bolton, as reactionary as he is, does care for the country and for the principles it is based on. To Trump laws and values mean nothing. Trump's personal gain comes before everything. He totally lacks the sense of service to the country and to something greater than himself. The unfolding of world events is orchestrated by primal unconscious forces that seem to have a life of their own. Collectively we seem forced into certain actions, often contrary to logic. The patterns of history repeat or rhyme, as if the lessons from before were not learned, and we go through same kinds of trials again. This is because we still live mostly on the unconscious level. The archetypal fragments playing around in our unconscious minds determine whi...

Rise of Authoritarians: An Astrological Perspective

Image
In these days when Vladimir Putin is demolishing the existing Russian government and constitution so he can become president for life, and when the Republican Party is unresponsive to Donald Trump's crimes, is there a larger lens through which to view these events? Is it just coincidence that strongmen are grabbing power in more countries worldwide? Trump and Putin clearly formed an alliance. Without Putin Trump would not be in power. And Trump knows Putin can take him down any time Putin wants. For Trump, with his moral failings, being indebted to Putin is not a problem. Trump wants power at any cost. To him it is "winning", even if he cheats. I suppose, a real narcissist would do almost anything for what he wants. Other people's rights don't enter the picture. Now the Trump base adopted the same attitude, which seriously threatens democracy and the rule of law. The US Constitution has not been this threatened since the Civil War. And again the fault lines...

Mike Pompeo: The Danger Within

Image
Mike Pompeo's teddy bear looks are deceiving. He projects a calm exterior, but beneath there may be something much more sinister. Reports are coming out that Pompeo was the main force behind the killing of Soleimani. It may be advantageous to Trump, Pence and Pompeo to distract the public from the Ukraine scandal, but there may be other reasons why their actions dominate the world news at this time. We are at an apex of conservative political power in America. Trump has bullied the Republican Party into submission, and the power of the far right has not been this strong since the days of G.W. Bush. The drums of war that Bush beat resulted in catastrophic wars in the Middle East with no ends in sight. Now Trump is attempting to repeat this pattern, primarily for personal reasons. And at his side is Mike Pompeo. The supposed rationale is that if Soleimani is removed Iran will be incapable, or unwilling, to pursue turmoil in the Middle East. But the reasons for Iran's inst...

Why has the Republican Party lost its soul?

Image
In 1854 Republicans defined themselves as a new American political party. In his seminal speech on October 16, 1854 Abraham Lincoln stood up for human rights in a country divided by slavery. Lincoln argued that: "If the negro is a man, why then my ancient faith teaches me that 'all men are created equal', and that there can be no moral right in connection with one man's making slave of another." Today, in 2019, Republicans stand behind Donald Trump who has viciously attacked immigrants and people of color. What has happened to the ideals of the Republican Party? How can it be explained? In a recent poll 53 % of Republicans said that Trump is a better president than Abraham Lincoln. Why has the Republican Party lost its soul? Why have the Republican morality and values flipped so shockingly in 2015? As the presidential campaign revved up the traditional candidates were jolted by the crudeness of Donald J.Trump. In place of Christian morality Trump blared int...
