Bernie-Trump Match-Up

No one can deny that Bernie Sanders is the most strident and fiery of the Democratic candidates in 2020. It should not be surprising then that Bernie is very strong in Fire energy. His Moon conjunction Mars in Aries is a sign of a warrior. We can easily picture the power of the ram (Aries) in battle, as we watch Bernie. His head lurches forward, ready to lock horns with his adversaries. Bernie's Noon Natal Chart is shown below.

Bernie can match, or perhaps surpass, the Fire power of Donald Trump. With his Mars in conjunction to the Ascendant in Leo, and Moon in Sagittarius, the other Fire signs, Trump is well-armed for battle. Trump's Natal Chart is shown below.

If the election was just about passion, Bernie and Trump would be evenly matched. But when it comes to policies and ideas, the idealism of Bernie is pitted against the selfish corruption of Trump. Bernie abides in the pure and ideal world of Virgo (Sun, Neptune, North Node in Virgo), while Trump appeals to the clannish and racist undercurrents of America (Venus, Saturn and Mercury in Cancer, the sign of family and clan). While  Bernie imagines an equal and prosperous state for all, Trump imagines a state of oppressors and the oppressed. In Bernie's world, all should feel good. In Trump's world only his white sycophants should feel good. Bernie fights for the "we" (Moon-Mars opposite Venus in Libra). For Trump, with Mars conjunct his Ascendant, it is mostly for himself.

 Bernie embodies the tension of the Saturn-Uranus conjunction. He talks about revolution (Uranus), but he promotes a new order (Saturn) of Socialism. These energies are joined (by trine) to his Mercury Neptune conjunction of idealism and purity (Virgo).

 Bernie does have a strong set of planets in Earth signs, which shows that he is concerned with material reality: prosperity and health of the masses. Bernie is weakest in his Water signs, which indicates that he does not engage well on a personal and emotional level. Trump, on the other hand, is well able to extract people's sympathy. Joe Biden is the candidate best able to touch people personally due to his Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter in Water signs.

In Bernie's case, Eris, the planet of disruption, makes contact to his Mercury and Pluto. This likely indicates that Bernie will cause disruption through his ideas (Mercury). Trump's Eris is in stressful aspects to his Mercury and Neptune, indicating disruptions through deceptions. His history of lies and crimes is now well documented.

RBG and Antonin Scalia: An Unlikely Friendship

The two, now deceased, justices of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia had an unusual, yet true friendship. They managed it in spite of being most often on the opposite sides of the Court's decisions. For RBG the issue that was of prime concern was the equality of women. To her equality meant that women should be in charge of their bodies. She wrote: "The state controlling a woman would mean denying her full autonomy and full equality." Antonin Scalia certainly had no such concerns. He never strayed far from the teachings of the Catholic Church which are based on a patriarchal society of 2000 years ago.
