Stopping the Trump Train
For the past three years we have watched the Trump train steam past caution signs, roll over stop signs, ignoring laws, norms, and even reality. The Trump base on board was delighted by every unhinged norm-breaking and humanity-denying move. "Let Trump be Trump", they said. But now, the train's controls are being taken over and the beast inside is trapped. It is fitting that the person taking control is Nancy Pelosi, a real-life mother of 5 and the great congressional "mother" of 435. She knows how to deal with unruly children.
The quote: "Character is destiny" is attributed to the Greek philosopher Heraclitus. In Astrology we believe that much of a person's character is shaped by the archetypal energies that were dominant at the time of birth. The natal chart is a basic blueprint of character. Most people strive consciously to improve their character through learning, but there is not much evidence that Trump bothered to do so. If anything, he learned how to better get away with crime. Since Trump is not a person of conscience or integrity, we can expect him to react out of a low and primitive nature. He will act true to his subconscious programs.
Trump's weakest point is his Venus conjunction Saturn. It makes him extremely touchy about how others perceive him. He can't handle criticism and he will attack others before they can attack him. It is a type of paranoia. ( I discuss this in detail in my previous blog: "Trump: Mask and Weakness".)
This character trait is also Trump's downfall, in that he felt compelled to attack Biden before Biden could attack him. The manner of this attack is the subject of the impeachment investigation. But the craziness of this attack seems even worse because we do not know that Biden will be the nominee. The Democrats may very well choose someone else. In this we see the echoes of Nixon's paranoia.
When the present day outer planets configure in such a way that they form stressful angles to a person's natal chart, the individual often experiences a crisis. This in Astrology is referred to as a transit. A very significant transit is presently affecting Trump's Saturn/Venus. This Pluto opposition Saturn/Venus transit is active from March 2019 to November 2021 due to the slow motion of Pluto. The exact (0 degrees) will occur from January to February 2020. We can expect the effects to be strongest during this time. Astrologer Robert Hand describes the effects of this transit as follows: "During this time you will experience changing circumstances and situations that may force you to surrender many things - material goods, relationships, principles you have previously held on to ... You may confuse hardheartedness with hardheadedness and suppress feelings ... It is doubtful that Trump will embrace this period in his life as a growth challenge. His ego will fight furiously so he does not end up a "loser". It is also doubtful that Trump will embrace truth and redefine himself in terms of truth. The forces of truth and justice that are aligning against him will make this a very rough ride. Many people expect that Trump will inflict pain on others as he goes down. He is implicating Pence and Barr in the Ukraine collusion, probably thinking it will somehow shield him. But, it is the intelligence community that is rising against him. How can they not despise a person that puts his petty criminal interests before country?
In addition to the Saturn-Pluto transit, transits involving Eris, Sun and Mars to Trump's Saturn may also produce significant crises. The chart below shows transiting planets on the outer circle and Trump's natal chart in the inner circle.
In this chart for November 9, 2019 we see both transiting Mars and Eris in exact squares to Trump's natal Saturn/Venus. This day, or days close to this, may involve events of aggression (Mars) and surprise (Eris). Another day that may be especially eventful is October 16, 2019 when the transiting Sun and Eris both square Trump's Saturn/Venus.
The transiting Pluto is at this point still 3 degrees from exact conjunction to transiting Saturn. When they form an exact conjunction in January 2020, the combined energy of both planets will affect Trump's Saturn/Venus. This is likely to be the time of Trump's trial in the Senate. The Saturn-Pluto conjunction through history Richard Tarnas describes as a "...pervasive quality of intense contraction; eras of international crisis and conflict, empowerment of reactionary forces and totalitarian impulses, organized violence and oppression, all sometimes marked by lasting traumatic effects." The Trump presidency certainly reeks of these qualities. Trump's Republican enablers will fight for him. This will all likely come to a head in January 2020. Astrology points to this time as a time of a severe crisis, but not how it will exactly resolve.
It is curious to consider Mitch McConnell and his role in the impeachment. Mitch himself is being subjected to a Uranus square Pluto transit from May 2019 to March 2020. The Senate trial will be in the middle of this. Uranus square Pluto is associated with revolutionary change, when major social structures disappear and are replaced. How can a person with so much Taurus and "fixed" energy like Mitch has, respond and change? Astrologer Robert Hand writes: "Because this influence affects a whole generation, the drastic changes you encounter may be partly the result of social and economic forces beyond your control. You may even feel like an unfortunate puppet moved by historical events." Is McConnell going to yield to the forces clamoring for the removal of Trump or will he stubbornly stick by Trump? McConnell, with his Pisces Sun, may just be enough of a slippery fish to wiggle through this shallow patch, once he sees which way the current is flowing. On October 16, 2019 Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership went to the White House to confront Trump over Syria withdrawal. The House voted 354-60 for condemning this policy. Trump blew up and insulted Pelosi who kept her cool. The Democrats walked out of the meeting. Pelosi said Trump had a "meltdown".

Among the significant events around November 9, 2019 was Congressman Schiff's announcement on Nov. 6 that open hearings will begin Nov. 13. Excerpts of the damaging book by Anonymous became public Nov. 7. And on Nov. 9 former national security adviser John Bolton expressed through his lawyer that he has additional evidence against Trump. All these actions are attacks (Mars) on Trump with some element of shock and surprise (Eris).
