Trump and the Power of Chaos

Donald J. Trump's dream for America could not be more different from that of Martin Luther King. Trump's dream is one of separation, exclusion, intolerance and pain and persecution of those who do not fit the mold. Trump's dream is that of white supremacy. He screams "Law and order" while peaceful protesters are gassed and mauled so he can pose with a Bible. In 2016 Trump promised his base a "beautiful wall" and other "beautiful" visions. The reality is children in cages, persecution of immigrants, police brutality and now over 120,000 dead of Covid-19.

Astrologically, Trump's dream rises from the tight square of his Mercury to Neptune. He is good at articulating (Mercury) his vision (Neptune). His vision is that of exclusion. With his natal Mercury, Venus, and Saturn in Cancer Trump is very clannish. Cancer is the sign of family and exclusion of those who are not considered family. Trump is driven by these personal unconscious forces, as are most of his base. In a country that is as diverse as the US, such a position is unrealistic and destructive.

Astrologically, the frantic and chaotic energy unleashed by Trump is due to the influence of newly discovered dwarf planet Eris. It has been tentatively associated with discord and strife. Eris is located in the Fire sign of Aries, it is directly opposite Trump's Neptune in Libra, and it is square Trump's Mercury in Cancer. This Cardinal T-square channels its energy through Trump's Mercury. The results are provocations, racist dog whistles, lies and outrageous behavior. He is trying to whip up his base into a complete and violent frenzy. The increase in hate groups and hate crimes since he took office is evidence of that. 

 As if Trump's unpredictability and flip-flopping (Uranus conjunction Sun and North Node) were not enough, we are being assaulted daily by shear and utter chaos. It is assault on truth, morality, norms, laws and now even people's lives. The historian John Meachum in a recent interview said that Trump has succeeded in weaponizing his narcissism. Many of his base are willing to risk their health and their lives to show up at his rallies.

 But one constant in Trump's behavior is his self interest. With profits from Trump Hotel, deals with Saudis, Turks and others we do not know, Trump has done well for himself. Astrologically, with Neptune, Chiron and Jupiter in his Second House, Trump is very focused on his material gains. Meanwhile, the country is sliding into an economic depression with no end in sight. America could not have picked a worse president. However, for the country's tragic decline he is perfect.

RBG and Antonin Scalia: An Unlikely Friendship

The two, now deceased, justices of the Supreme Court, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia had an unusual, yet true friendship. They managed it in spite of being most often on the opposite sides of the Court's decisions. For RBG the issue that was of prime concern was the equality of women.   In a frenzied fight to hold on to their White power the Trump Republicans are throwing it all in - everything but the kitchen sink. They elected the semi-crazy, they assaulted the Capitol and they beat the police with American flags. Trump told them to "Fight like Hell" and they did it.
